Our environmental policy

We are committed to improving the environmental well-being of Brent through the services that we provide and by reducing the adverse effects of our own actions.Blue recycling label

 

We recognise that we can enhance the quality of the environment through our Services so that we can meet our present needs whilst making sure that future generations will be able to meet theirs.Red and grey recycling label

By acting locally we will play our part in improving the global environment and we will ensure that we continually improve our environmental performance.

To improve the environment we will:

 

  • comply with all relevant legislation and other obligations
  • raise awareness of, and provide information on, issues affecting the environment
  • work with partners to promote the sustainable development agenda
  • improve resource use and waste management by encouraging minimisation, re-use, recycling, composting, and other recovery techniques
  • review internal processes to minimise the use of paper records and reduce storage requirements
  • prevent, control, and reduce the release of pollutants to the environment
  • maintain and continually improve the environmental wellbeing of Brent;and
  • address the environmental impact of how we deliver our Services by:
  1. Integrating environmental considerations into all decision making considered to have significant environmental implications
  2. integrating environmental considerations into all procurement
  3. improving resource use and waste management by encouraging waste minimisation, reuse, and recycling
  4. responding to Climate Change by cutting emissions from our buildings and vehicles, by promoting the use of renewable energy, and by adapting our services
  5. motivating and training our staff 

Our performance against these commitments will be published in our annual review. This Policy will be reviewed once every 3 years and will be distributed to all members of staff and relevant parties.
