Train to be a resident quality inspector

We are very excited to offer this new opportunity to all our council tenants and leaseholders.

We are offering residents the opportunity to train as a Resident Quality Inspector accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing. Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded a level two certificate in Housing, equivalent to a standard GCSE.

Resident Quality Inspectors can carry out planned and structured inspections of specific aspects of services provided by landlord such as:

  • estates and neighbourhoods
  • communal areas
  • void properties
  • repairs
  • gas maintenance
  • major improvements

Following completion of this course, you could assist Brent Housing Partnership and other registered social landlord staff with inspections of services such as repairs services, communal inspections and complaints. There will also be opportunities for you to work with other housing providers to inspect their services.

The course which starts on 16th February 2010, will involve a combination of seven tutored group sessions with practical tasks and assignments. You will need to be able to spend 7 days in the classroom over a 15 week period.

We will be holding a taster session on 26th January 2010 from 10am to 4pm so if you are interested we want to hear from you. We will fund up to 3 residents to undertake this qualification and full support will be given.
