The Housing Support Team in partnership with Brent In2Work and Brent Council has launched a new and exciting service for tenants who are in receipt of benefits and wanting to return to work.
The "Ready 4 Work" project aims to support tenants who are wanting to go back into employment.
Leading on this project is a newly appointed Community Employment Officer - Miranda Josiah.
The "Ready 4 Work" project will be delivered in partnership with Brent In2Work.
BHP's Community Employment Officer will work closely with individual tenants to develop Individual action plans and sign post to various providers of services needed to support that tenant.
Also the Employment Officer with facilitate workshops which include:
- Prep your CV - CV assistance
- interview essentials - Interview Techniques needed to successfully survive an interview setting and also recognising what employers are looking for from a candidate
- apply now - Knowing how to write an effective application form and following guidelines set by employers and job searching adequately
- working with confidence - Confidence building workshop of reflection on where you are now and where you want to be
- coming soon: Work placements / volunteers scheme - for tenants who lack recent work experience and a free pair of hands for various departments.
Brent In2Work offers a number of services to tenants who are referred via BHP's Community Employment Officer. The projects that they offer are:
- Language2Work - Project supporting client who have English as a second language and focus on providing an intensive job-focused programme which is delivered in a nurturing environment
- Personal Best programme (PBP) - working in partnership with Wembley Stadium to equip successful tenants with the skills needed to contribute to an employer's business from the first day in work
- intensive one to one/group support from Brent In2Work Personal Advisor - provide individual/group support to clients needing information, advice and guidance in their efforts to return to employment. In additional, will also provide CV, interview techniques and job search workshops as well as individual application form support
- after care - This is for clients who have entered employment and still need support so as not to fall out of employment. With support from the team of officers, the client will be guided through their first few months of employment and in turn providing the client with enough confidence and empowerment to sustain in employment.
