Community safety alarms
The community safety alarm is an initiative managed by the housing support team and is issued to vulnerable residents living alone with no support network.

An alarm is fitted in a room in the resident's home, the front door and there is also a pocket size panic button which can be worn around the neck.

At the press of a button, a signal is transmitted to a call centre that automatically recognises the caller and a key holder, usually a family member, who is contacted immediately.

The alarm offers vulnerable residents a 24 hour link to a monitoring centre which can dispatch the relevant emergency services, listen in on doorstep conversations or even intervene in a conversation if necessary.

Fitting of an alarm is subject to eligibility criteria.
