The Neighbourhood Wardens are the eyes and ears of our community.

Across the borough, the Neighbourhood Wardens are on patrol in your local community, responding to incidents 365 days a year (from 3pm - midnight), making improvements in public safety and reducing crime.

 

The Neighbourhood Wardens work in partnership with existing services in the area including the police.

What the Neighbourhood Wardens can do for you:

 

Reducing crime:

 

  • responding to HOTLINE calls
  • regular patrols on estates
  • taking action to reduce vandalism and graffiti
  • having a physical presence to deter crime
  • giving crime prevention advice
  • regular after school patrols
  • crime awareness work in schools and in the community

 

Encouraging a sense of community

 

  • checking on elderly and vulnerable residents
  • involvement with youth groups, schools, residents' associations and others
  • acting as a mediator in disputes
  • initiating sports activities such as local football leagues and street games

 

Protecting the environment

 

  • reporting abandoned vehicles, vandalism, fly-tipping, graffiti and broken lights
  • reporting communal hazards and repairs
  • dealing with fire risks
  • working with local landscape projects

 

In addition to the Neighbourhood Wardens on patrol there is a Reception Warden service (concierge) from 2pm until 12 midnight on Sundays to Thursdays, and from 4pm until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays in:

  • Fielding House
  • Gloucester House
  • Hereford House
  • William Saville House
  • and Winterleys in South Kilburn.

 

The Reception Wardens:

 

  • Monitor access and registration of unannounced visitors and contractors
  • ensure the safety and security of residents and communal facilities - fire exits, lifts, chute rooms, lights and cupboards
  • identify and arrange for removal of any hazardous materials
  • provide assistance to vulnerable residents
  • work alongside the Neighbourhood Wardens.
