The Neighbourhood Wardens are the eyes and ears of our community.

Across the borough, the Neighbourhood Wardens are on patrol in your local community, responding to incidents 365 days a year (from 3pm - midnight), making improvements in public safety and reducing crime.Neighbourhood wardens

 

The Neighbourhood Wardens work in partnership with existing services in the area including the police.

 

In addition to the Neighbourhood Wardens on patrol, we also provide a Reception Warden Service from 2pm until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and from 4pm until 2am on Friday and Saturday.

What the Neighbourhood Wardens can do for you:

 

Reducing crime:

 

  • attend to call-outs within 30 mins
  • carry out regular patrols on estates
  • provide a physical presence to deter crime
  • give crime prevention advice
  • carry out regular after school patrols
  • raise crime awareness in schools and in the community
  • work in productive partnerships with the police and other services.

 

Encouraging a sense of community:

 

  • visit elderly and vulnerable residents
  • get involved with youth groups, schools, residents' associations and others
  • act as mediators in disputes
  • take part in community events and initiate sports activities such as local football leagues

 

Protecting the environment:

 

  • report vandalism, graffiti, arson and drugs
  • report communal hazards and urgent repairs
  • deal with fire risks
  • work with local landscape projects
  • deal with dogs in association with BARK

 

In addition to the Neighbourhood Wardens on patrol there is a Reception Warden service (concierge) from 2pm until 12 midnight on Sundays to Thursdays, and from 4pm until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays in:

 

  • Austen HouseA reception warden in South Kilburn
  • Bronte House
  • Craik Court
  • Crone Court
  • Dickens House
  • Fielding House
  • Gloucester House
  • Hereford House
  • William Saville House
  • and Winterleys in South Kilburn.

 

The Reception Wardens will:

 

  • monitor access and registration of unannounced visitors and contractors
  • ensure the safety and security of residents and communal facilities - fire exits, lifts, chute rooms, lights and cupboards
  • identify and arrange for removal of any hazardous materials
  • provide assistance to vulnerable residents
  • work alongside the Neighbourhood Wardens
