Housing support services

We offer short-term, medium term and long-term services depending on the
aims and objectives of each tenant.

Short term schemes last from 6 -12 months and the medium term from 1-2 years, with the intention of moving tenants to independent living or increasing their ability to live independently.

Long-term services are on a continuous basis and are often open-ended.

We offer housing related support to vulnerable tenants following a comprehensive needs and risk assessment, with the aim of sustaining their tenancies and allowing them to live independently.

Where appropriate, we link tenants in to relevant mainstream and specialist services in their community.

The services depend on the level of individual needs and risk assessment.

Areas covered by the support team include:

  • budgeting and managing finances
  • claiming welfare benefit
  • safety and security of the home
  • moving on aspirations
  • setting up and maintaining a home
  • maintaining tenancy
  • personal safety and risk
  • family and social contact.

Other initiatives delivered, but not funded, by the Supporting People programme are:

  • gardening services
  • community forums and participation
  • safety and door crime prevention
  • home facilities adaptation.

The support worker will arrange regular contact to give support over the period of the service user plan.

There will be reviews to establish that the right level and type of support is being provided and when the support can be reduced or withdrawn.
