21/12/07 : BHP gives vulnerable residents a say
Brent Housing Partnership launched a new forum for residents who use the housing support service. Now they have the opportunity to directly influence the service they receive.
All the service users were invited to the first forum in December. They discussed the service they receive from BHP, any changes they feel should be made and learned more about what we do as an organisation.
Fay Campbell the principal elder's officer said: "The meeting was just as beneficial for us as it was for the residents. We got some really good ideas for improving the service. For example, everyone agreed that we should let them know when a support officer leaves and another one joins the team. They also asked if they could be kept informed of any day trips BHP are organising and we are now going to look into organising trips specifically for them.
"The next meeting and all future meetings will be chaired by the residents who will also decide what they want on the agenda. That way they will really get what they want out of the meeting."
And to make sure everyone who wants to come can, staff have gone the extra mile by hiring a mini bus which they use themselves to pick up and drop residents off at their homes.
