29/08/07 : BHP hosts dog day

A 'Dog Education and Welfare Day' will be held on St Rapheals estate tomorrow to offer residents advice, free treatments and information on animal care and owner responsibility (30th August 2 - 6pm).

On hand during the day will be BHPs anti-social behaviour team, staff from the RSPCA, The Mayhew Animal Home, Brent Councils animal welfare service, and the Metropolitan Police.

The first ten dog owners to attend the event will receive a free collar and dog tag. Free micro chipping, neutering, goody bags and behavioural advice and much more are also available.

The event aims to educate owners on dog welfare and responsible ownership as well as to reduce incidents of antisocial behaviour linked with the misuse of dogs.

BHP's dog day comes just ahead of the official launch of BARK, Brent Action for Responsible K9's, set up to deal with irresponsible dog ownership through events such as these (September 16). BARK is the result of collaboration between BHP, the RSPCA, The Mayhew Animal Home, Brent Councils animal welfare service, and the Metropolitan Police.
