Ninety year old Kingsbury resident, Megan Butcher said: "I had a lovely day, I really enjoyed myself. I went to Southend with my daughter; we rode the train on the pier, bought some gifts from the life boat support shop and had a really nice lunch by the sea.

"I am so grateful that BHP organise these trips for their residents - I love them."

Residents paid five pounds towards the trip which included coach travel and snacks. Anyone over 65 travelled free.

BHP director, Helen Evans, said: "The days out are planned to give BHP residents a great opportunity to meet their neighbours from other parts of the borough and give them the chance to escape London for the day."
