11/05/07 : Karin wins Board Member of the Year award for BHP

Local resident and dedicated, board member of Brent Housing Partnership (BHP), Karin Jaeger, beat entrants from across the country to be joint winner of the board member of the year award at the National Federation of ALMO'S (NFA) conference in York this week (May 9th).

The award recognises and celebrates the hard work of the un-sung heroes from ALMO boards nation-wide.

Karin has been involved with BHP for over four years and, despite suffering from depression and preferring the quiet life, is an active member of both her tenants' association and the BHP board.

Karin often lends her knowledge and experience to help residents and even provides advice to councils considering setting up ALMO's and, not fearing a bit of hard work, Karin regularly rolls up her sleeves and mucks in to help with BHP events for residents.

Karin said: "Being a part of this ALMO story has completely changed my life. The doctor said he'd like to know what medication I'm on as it's nothing he's been giving me. I'm so proud to have won this award for myself and for BHP."

Managing Director Helen Evans said: "Karin thoroughly deserves this award - she regularly gives up her time to work for BHP and our residents. This is the first year of the NFA awards and I am so pleased that it was won by such a valuable member of the BHP board - Karin is a major asset to our team and our residents."
