The first BHP residents proudly graduated last Thursday (29th) having completed a six week introductory IT course at the new residents resource centre at Chancel house.
The successful graduates, who are all Brent Housing Partnership (BHP) tenants or leaseholders, attended a free one day course for two hours over the six weeks in the new computer room where they were taught by a fully qualified IT teacher how to use a computer.
The class was aimed at residents who have little to no knowledge of how to use a computer and gave them the skills to write a word document, access the web and even produce a power point presentation.
During the course, residents were even tested on what they had learnt, with most scoring 90% or above.
Managing Director of BHP, Helen Evans presented the ex pupils with their certificate's during a surprise presentation. Before the awarding Helen heard from the residents how they thought the course had gone.
Emily Dee of Aneurin Bevan Court said: "The course was brilliant; I can't believe that I can now do a power point presentation."
Eighty one year old Molly Ormond of Marley Walk Willesden, who has since taken up web surfing said: "Because of this course I was able to check the weather forecast on the internet and it said it would be a glorious day, and it was. I can find out anything I want on the web."

Helen Evans said: "I hope you have all enjoyed the course and learnt what you need to get you started using computers on a daily basis or just to make your life a little easier. All we at BHP ask of you is that you spread the word, let all BHP residents know that the centre is here and it is here to be used."
