15/11/06 : Ninety year old resident cuts ribbon to Open House

A Great, Great Grandmother, who has been a council tenant for 50 years, will be opening the Brent Housing Partnership open day tomorrow (16th)

Ninety year old Rose Hewlett, who became a council tenant just after the Second World War, will be the star guest opening the doors to this huge event.

Mrs Hewlitt, who has 54 children, grand children and great grand children, will officially open the event at 2 pm in the Paul Daisley Hall, Brent Town Hall, Forty Lane.

BHP managing director, Helen Evans, said: "Open House is all about our tenants and leaseholders who live in properties managed by us. This is why we wanted one of our longest standing tenants to have the spotlight on the day."

BHP, the organisation that looks after thousands of council homes in Brent, has invited all 13,000 of its residents to meet directors, staff and enjoy a fun filled afternoon.

The day promises to be jam packed with entertainment for all ages from war time sing a longs to steel bands and dancers. There's also free beauty therapy, massages and yoga for all residents.

There will also be lots of exciting children's entertainment, music, performances and large selection of free hot and cold food.

Helen said: "By opening our doors to residents we can learn more about how we can improve services to them. For the first time residents will have access to all services under one roof at the same time."

Tenants and leaseholders will be able to find out how they can become more involved in the running of their estates, learn about improvements to their homes through the BHP major works programme as well as report repairs and find out about what benefits they are entitled to.

The event runs from 2 pm - 7 pm.
