Pets

The terms and conditions of your tenancy agreement set out the council's responsibilities and your responsibilities regarding animals.

If you are planning to keep a pet it is important that you get written permission from us. Under certain circumstances permission may not be granted.

Dogs

Dogs can be a delight, but irresponsible ownership can make them little more than a nuisance.

Tenants are only permitted to keep pets (even temporarily) as long as they don't cause a nuisance.

It is a criminal offence to keep a dangerous dog unless it has a certificate of exemption.

You must ensure that no pet you keep or that is temporarily in your home causes a nuisance or annoys or frightens anyone.

If you keep a dog without our permission, then we will take action to remove it.
