During her leadership, Helen has provided a strong direction and focus to BHP and has earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and residents. She has led BHP to become a highly respected national housing organisation.

Under Helen's leadership BHP has achieved a great deal including being the first ALMO to purchase its own homes with the Granville New Homes project. The Settled Homes Initiative was also driven by Helen; BHP obtained funding to build 286 homes for homeless families.

As a testament to her hands on approach with residents, Helen initiated a borough-wide Tenants' Roadshow project. Helen sent a personal invitation to all 13,000 council tenants and leaseholders to come and meet her at a series of evening and weekend meetings held around the borough providing the opportunity for residents to express their views on the services provided by BHP.

Helen has been a dynamic manager, and has always shown energy and enthusiasm in her work. She will be missed by both staff and residents alike.

Kathy Ellison, Chair of BHP's Board said "The news of Helen Evans leaving has been sad for all of us at BHP and for residents as well. She has been an excellent leader and an inspiration to everyone. I would like to wish Helen every happiness and the best for the future."

Gerry Doherty said "Being part of the Directorate Team, I have learnt a great deal under Helen's leadership. She has a hands-on approach and is well-liked by everyone she works with, Helen will be dearly missed. I will ensure that we continue to provide an excellent service for our residents and that our service will not be disrupted at all during the changeover period. Business will carry on as usual."
